VONBANK appeared in Jordan Independent on Thursday, January 10, 1901

John VONBANK Sr. departed this life at his home in this city after a
short illness with stomach troubles, Monday evening, Jan. 7, 1901.
Deceased wasborn in Pech, (Besch) Germany, on March 8, 1837, and came
to America with his parents in 1855 and located at St. Joe, this county.
He was married on August 30, 1857 to Anna Thill, who with two sons and
four daughters, survive him. He moved to this city to reside three years
ago, and here as well as at his old home he had made many friends, all
of whom mourn the departure of a kind and generous neighbor. He was a
kind and loving husband and father, and his surviving relatives deeply
mourn his somewhat sudden departure. He was a devout Christian and an
ardent member of the Catholic church. His remains were interred from St.
John's church this city, yesterday morning, and his remains laid to rest
in the family lot in the Catholic cemetery.
