Magaret (Beckrich) Majerus

In the death of Mrs. Mathias Majerus, who passed away at the home of 
her son, Nic Majerus, at Shakopee, Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 30, at 3 p.m., 
this community lost one of its oldest residents. Due to her advanced age 
she had been in feeble health the past four years.  About three weeks 
ago she was confined to her bed succumbing to the infirmities of age 
after a long and useful life spent in this community.
Born in Schockville, Belgium, December 3, 1849, Margaret Beckrich, 
spent her childhood there, coming with her parents to this country 
when she was 14 years old.  About a year was psent in Ohio before 
coming to Minnesota.  She was 15 years of age when her parents settled 
on a farm in Eagle Creek township, thereafter moving to Jackson township 
where she lived for a while.  In the fall of 1866 at Shakopee she became 
the bride of Mathias Majerus. They lived happily together until he passed 
on in the 1910.  Three children, two sons, Dominic and Nicolas Majerus, 
and one daughter, Mrs. Catherine Bauer, Hastings, survive.  She is also 
survived by a brother, Anton Beckrich, and one sister, Miss Marion 
Beckrich.  Survivng her also are six grandchildren and three great 
grandchildren.
Thirty-five years ago she and her husband decided to give up farming 
and retire and spend the evening of life together free form the cares 
of active daily work.  Since her husband's death in 1910 Mrs. Majerus 
had made her home with her son Vicolas.
The Funeral took place from St. Mark's Church last Thursday, September 
1, at 9 o'clock a.m., Rev. Father Savs officiating at the church and 
at the grave.  The pallbearers were George Realander, P.J. Schwartz,
G.H. Vierling, Sr., Anton Marschall, John Abeln and Hubert Pass.  
The venerable lady was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of 
St. Mark's parish.  The interment was in St. Mark's cemetary.
Among those at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Anton Bauer, John, Nick, 
Joseph and Frank Bauer, Mrs. Henry Conzemins, Mrs. K. Hammerle all of 
Hastings; Mrs. Math Reinardy, son Adolph of New Trier; Mrs. Mary 
Seiberlich, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sieberlich, Mrs. P.M. Vogt, Mrs. W. 
King, Mrs. E. Kaschke, son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Vogt 
all of St. Paul; Mrs. Theo. Notermann, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Howard, 
son Paul of Spring Valley, Wisconsin.

Death record states she died August 30, 1932.
Mrs. Mathias Majerus was the sister of Marriane Beckrich who 
married in 1866 to Mathias Majerus.
