Local Mother Called to Rest
The Sudden Death of Mrs. Dominick Majerus is Shock to Community
The death of Mr.s Dominick Majerus, one of the most hoghly respected
residents of this community occured at her home in this city, Thursday
morning, January 10, at three o'clock. Death was caused by heart
failure due to metastatic sarcoma. She had been in ill health about
three months, and was confined to her bed in a critical condition
Tuesday afternoon and in spite of all that loving hands could do, her
strength rapidly failed and death quietly claimed her early Thursday
morning.
Susan (Siebenaler) Majerus was born at New Trier, Dakota County, April
10, 1869. She spent her childhood days and grew to womanhood at New
Trier. On October 20, 1891, she was united in marriage at Shakopee
to Dominick Majerus. The couple went to housekeeping on a farm three
miles south of Shakopee, where they resided until September, 1919
when they retired and moved to Shakopee. Five children were born to
the couple, all of whom with their sorrowing father, survive and mourn
the loss of a loving mother.
They are Sister M. Majella of Madison, Minn., Frank on farm south of
Shakopee; Sister M. Veronica of Winona and Marie and Math at home.
She also leaves to mourn her loss her mother, Mrs. Math Siebenaler
of Hastings; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Hammerle of Cologne and Mrs.
Math Reinardy of Hampton; and seven brothers, Nick, Anton and Math F.
of Hampton, John of Vermillion, William of Minneapolis and Frank and
Leo of this city.
Mrs. Majerus was a devoted wife and mother and a kind friend to all
who knew her. She was a devout member of St. Mark's Catholic church
and a member of the Mothers' Society of that church. In her death
the community loses one of its most noble women and her family suffers
the irreparable loss of a kind and loving mother.
The funeral was held form St. Mark's Church, Saturday morning,
January 12 at nine o'clock.
Rev. M. Savs was the officiating clergman.
