The small mining town called Sunshine was established in 1874 and the first burial in Sunshine Cemetery occurred in 1875.  To reach the cemetery from Boulder take 28th Street (US 36) to Mapleton Avenue; turn west on Mapleton and continue west until it becomes Sunshine Road.  Continue on Sunshine Road approximately 5 miles from Boulder city limits; the cemetery is near the top of a knoll on the right and is visible from the road.
