I am looking for a Joe B. Farley. He would be my grandmothers father. Do not know anything else about him. Do know that my grandmother, Jessie Farley, was born Sept. 9, 1902 in Pickens County. She died on Jan 1, 1971 in Tuscaloosa at DCH Regional Hospital. She is buried at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Joe. B. Farley married Ada A. Maiden name unknown. Could be Brown or Cook. On grandmothers death certificate it is listed as Brown. But, in old Family Bible it is listed as Cook. Could you help me locate the county where Joe. B. Farley may have come from??? Or anything else that may give me a clue as to where he orginated. Grandma-Jessie Farley had 5 kids, but some were by other fathers. She never married my grandfather. Thomas Harrison Beck. She did marry a Fred LeRoy and Sanford Adams. |

Hello, I have posted to my website www.fly.to/Askew about 700 new marriages that are Askew's, Ascue's, variants, or relations to them from the FHC Vital Records Index cd's. As some are aware, these cd's are not a complete listing of all states, so this message goes only to those states that showed up in the information contained on the cd's. If you have any information regarding any of these families, I would welcome it and post it with mine. Please keep in mind that this information is about the marriage and few have any other information yet. Thanks, Doug |

FISK/ALLRED: I am searching for information on Crawford Fisk who married Martha Allred in Alabama and moved to Arkansas sometime before the Civil War. Crawford was killed by bushwhackers while home on leave during the War. His sister-in-law, Carrie Allred, who was living with them at the time, ran to neighbors for help. I have no idea what county either Crawford or Martha came from. I do know that Crawford had a brother, James Fisk, who moved to New York and became a railroad tycoon. James was called "Diamond Jim" Fisk and was a partner of Jay Gould. The family in Arkansas has never been able to prove the relationship as all proof was destroyed in a house fire after Jim Fisk's death. If I understand family tradition correctly, Crawford was also known as "Tanner" Fisk, as that was apparently his profession. If anyone recognizes these individuals and can help, I would appreciate hearing from you. Mara Fisk New Orleans, LA |
